In the central part of the Catawba River Valley lies the city of Hickory, NC. With its scenic beauty and proximity to the NC mountains, it˙s no surprise Hickory has been voted to be one of America˙s most livable cities. The town is primarily known for being the furniture capital of the world, and over 60% of the nation˙s furniture is produced around this area.
There are many other elements of Hickory for both residents and visitors to enjoy, however. Hickory Motor Speedway, considered the birthplace of such NASCAR stars as Dale Earnhardt, Junior Johnson, and Harry Gant, runs weekly with both stock and drag car racing. Rock Barn Golf and Spa is one of the premier golf courses in the state and plays host to the Greater Hickory Classic each year. And locals enjoy watching the Hickory Crawdads baseball team play from April to October.
Through its beautiful views, mild seasons and friendly community, Hickory has managed to build the reputation of being a charming town and a great place to live.
